Dr. Loy Anderson, MD

Founder and Owner

Dr. Loy Anderson, MD, is a physician with over 25 years of experience, board-certified in both Family Medicine and Functional Medicine. She began her academic journey with a BS in Biology from Walla Walla University in 1991, followed by earning her MD from Loma Linda University in 1996. After completing a 3-year residency in Family Medicine, Dr. Anderson served four years of active duty in the Air Force, stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base.

Her career at the Great Falls Clinic spanned from 2004 to 2017, where she worked in various capacities including the hospital, urgent care, and clinic settings. During her time at the Clinic, she particularly cherished the long-term relationships she developed with her patients. Dr. Anderson has been an active lecturer, focusing on topics such as women’s health, stress management, inflammation, hormones, and weight loss. She is known for her passion for education and commitment to helping her patients achieve wellness.

Despite her success in mainstream medicine, Dr. Loy felt that it did not provide all the necessary answers for her patients’ needs or the optimal results they sought. This realization led her to pursue training in functional medicine in 2015. She successfully completed the rigorous certification process through the Institute of Functional Medicine in 2018.

The doors of Thriven Functional Medicine Clinic opened in May of 2017. Following this, Dr. Loy left the Great Falls Clinic to fully immerse herself in her new passion for functional medicine in October 2017.

She brings together her extensive experience and skills in traditional western medicine with the innovative and intuitive approach of functional medicine, offering the best of both worlds. An exceptional team has been assembled at Thriven Functional Medicine to provide unparalleled care, aiming to create abundant health with lasting results. The clinic operates on the belief that every person is worthy and capable of achieving abundant health. This is achieved by first loving people, thereby creating an environment rich in hope and healing. By attentively listening to patients' concerns, the clinic works in partnership with them to devise a personalized path that reconnects mind, body, and soul. This empowers individuals to fulfill their life's purpose.

In her personal life, Loy is passionate about outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and snowshoeing. She also enjoys flying, playing music, and gardening. Her faith keeps her grounded, allowing her to be fully present not just for her clients, but also for her daughter, Alex.
